This adorable photo depicts Steven’s 1st grade class, from Public School #102, which is located at 315 East 113th Street-between 1st & 2nd Avenue. The approximate year was circa 1953-54.
According to Steven’s memories of his East Harlem school days, the male teacher in the photo was named Mr. Dupoid. (spelling uncertain). You can find Steven sitting in the first row-4th from the right, with hat in hand. 🙂 Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful vintage photo with us, Steven! It truly is a historical gem!
A note to my readership: Take a look at the teachers, and the children in this class photo. If you recognize anyone, feel free to comment on who they are, and point out exactly where they are in this photo! Thanks, and enjoy! P.S. The children in this photo would currently be around 73-74 years old!

Hi, I sent these before but never heard back from anyone. My late father Andy Senatore (center) grew up on Pleasant Ave

Hi Tony,
I just sent you an email. Sorry for the delay! My dad knew your father very well! We had your dad’s framed headshot photo, on the wall, in our den, back in the 60’s-70’s! I remember it well! I remember him coming to the house when I was a child. Those were the days!

Hi Bobby, perhaps someone who sees this photo, and went to P.S. 102 during that time period, has more photos to share. This photo was sent to me by one of my site followers. Hopefully, there will be more to come!

S\Great picturer. I wish that I had a picturer of my 1st grade class, it would have been 1949. I remember a female teacher Mrs. Stuph (?)

Iâve been wracking my brain and canât remember a single class photo taken in the Catholic School I attended from 1st to fifth grades, St. Adalbertâs, in the late 1950s, on 155th and Melrose Ave. It wasnât until my famiglia moved out of the Bronx and to the suburbs and I attended public schools that I recall class pictures. I wonder if others had the same experience. Warm regards,Jo-Ann
